Mothers Day this year started with a bang…of the champagne cork! Jonathan knows me well and planned such a wonderful day for our family. Both he and Bridget let me sleep til I was ready to get up (umm…8:15), and I came out of the bedroom to find him cleaning out my car. The last time a big clean happened was probably last Mothers Day! :)
We each enjoyed some delicious mimosas before going in to wake up Bridget together (that’s right, be jealous…she slept til 9!).
We promptly got dressed a ready for head to brunch. Another favorite! J always rolls his eyes when I tell him how much I like this blue shirt untucked with some jeans (like normal men wear!), so of course he wore it just for me. Isn’t he silly?!
We loved our delicious brunch at Nico’s! Here’s a sweet pic of us on our way to Nico’s last year for Bridget’s first Mothers Day with Mommy :)
Can you believe how much older she looks now?! So fun to look back at the days when she’d always smile for the camera…
Back to brunch. The best part (besides the mimosas!) was finally getting a chance to try out the awesome playground they have in their patio area. It was amazing!!
As you can imagine, leaving the playground was a bit of an episode. We can’t wait to go back! Thankfully, Daddy had even more fun activities planned…
We made a quick stop at the house to put on our outdoor wear and pull B’s hair back in a big girl ponytail. Isn’t it the cutest?? Then we headed out for a trip to Arbor Hills, one of our favorite places!
Daddy wanted to take B on her first real hike, so we ventured off the paved path into the brushy woods and followed a narrow trail through all sorts of cool plants. She loved it, and Mommy was sure to watch closely for “leaves of 3” if you know what I mean (we were safe!).
Can you find Bridget????
Daddy and B even got to climb a cool tree bridge!
She sure is Grammy’s little girl! Loved pointing out each and every leaf, piece of bark, and creepy crawly :)
We took a brisk walk back on the path while she got a little drink break (shout out, Subaru!)…
And then took Penny down to the creek to play in the cool water. There were 3-4 other families playing down there! Such great teachable moments in nature :)
After our outdoor time, we returned home for lunch and then a nice, long nap for Bridget. Mommy got lots of time to catch up on blogging (hello, 8 posts in two days! I’ve been trying to catch up!) while Daddy took my car to the detailing place. Loved my alone time!
Upon wake up, we got ready for another outing before dinner time. Bridget was ready to go in Mommy’s extra clean “gi-go!”
Before meeting the Adamos for dinner, we stopped at Target to pick out a new vacuum for Mommy! Wheee! It’s the little things :)
After a few minutes of chat/play time at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, we all headed to BJ’s for dinner. Though Jonathan’s mom wanted Cheesecake Factory, we didn’t want to deal with a 2 hour wait like two years ago. Here we are on that day, my “first Mothers Day” when I was pregnant with B. And look at my sweet, precious little Penny! She was so little!:
Well, BJs did just fine :). I can’t believe how good Bridget was all weekend at all the restaurants we visited! Such a lovely girl! It certainly helps to have cousins there to distract her. My mom tells me that trouble at restaurants just means its time to have another baby! Apparently it actually gets EASIER to go out with 2…care to chime in on that??
Snuggles before bedtime! Mothers Day is 100% my favorite day of the year. I’m already looking forward to next year. How was your Mothers Day??
And I should mention: on Saturday I got a chance to stop by and see my wonderful Mommy. Bridget loves her time with Grammy and Pop, and I was happy to give Mom and big hug and remind her what a wonderful mother she’s always been to me. She’s definitely my best role model in life both as a woman and a mother. I can’t say thank you enough for my Mom!!!!
You had a GREAT Mother's Day!!!
