I’m not going to spend forever trying to get all of our pics down on the blog. Lord knows how much I’ve fallen behind on journaling these last 3 months! But here’s a good review of our fabulously amazing trip to our beloved Hilton Head Island, SC. Allow me to sum it up in one word:
Ahhhhhhh….
Catching our flight to Savannah on Friday night:
Let the sleepy afternoons with little nap time begin. Blah. My little trooper really tries her best to stay cheery during 2pm lunch times at restaurants, but they usually end in tears. Sleepy girl! Thankfully, few things were going to ruin her first day on the island. Too bad for her, we couldn’t get into the house until 3pm. Loving that 10am wake-up we all enjoyed at the hotel that morning!
We didn’t even bother to go inside once we arrived at 57 Dune Lane. The three of us ran right to the beach!
Soaking wet from the waves, but having a blast!
For the rest of the week, we enjoyed much of the same most days. Plenty of beach bunny time:
Daddy arrived on Sunday evening and B ran him right outside to build a sandcastle. He loved it!
And I put them both to work putting lotion on my sunburn. Idiot, me!
Nights brought us al either dinner parties at the house or trips to our favorite restaurant haunts with the entire 22 person HHI group (joy! merriment! music! laughter!):
More beach time, and LOTS of lazy, late afternoon naps. Just about mine and Jonathan’s favorite part of the trip!
One of the HHI Moms, Jane, made this beautiful quilt for Bridget and presented it at the surprise baby shower thrown for J and me back in HHI 2009. Check out my precious girl nearly 4 years later!
Looking through old pics from HHI 2009, I found this gem. By that trip, we’d narrowed down our baby names to a solid 5. Those names stuck around until our newborn was a couple of hours old, when we finally decided we had to bite the bullet and choose already! As you can see by the voting results, there was a reason we couldn’t pick easily. Everyone liked all the names!
Back to 2013 - The first day we were there, Bridget asked one of the other adults: “are there any other children here??” So sweet and so sad, right?! Thankfully, one of our HHI family has sisters in Savannah, so her grandkids came down for a day trip and were more than happy to entertain my little lady. She was in heaven!
And we got to see some beach fishermen catch a SHARK. Happens every year, but its always just as creepy, if you ask me. Also check out the beach monster (aka BIG LOG) that washed up one day. Arrrrr!
I dealt with the joys of REAL humidity pretty much every time I took my camera outside anywhere. Awesome blurry effect, right? It always took a good 10-15 minutes for the lens to adjust to the climate change. SHeesh!
Love my Hilton Head Family!
Tiki Night! The “Williams Girls” hosted the first house party and it was just about the best of the week, if we could say so ourselves .
Thankfully we found time to squeeze in a trip to our favorite nature preserve. And we even saw a baby alligator! See if you can spot him in the water:
Though the beach is great, its so relaxing to have a nice swimming pool at the place, as well. Ahhhh!
B got to try her first fake nails (ewww…I’m proud to say she DID NOT like them!), as well as a Mom-applied manicure. My little model girl!
If you know Jonathan, its no surprise that Bridget spent plenty of time practicing her Frisbee skills. She’s not too bad!
Look at my little 2 years ago – back when she didn’t care to touch the sand with her feet nor let a drop of ocean water graze her baby skin (oh, how things change in 2 years!):
A Father’s Day celebration for the ages at Mellow Mushroom, plus a quality Bocce Ball tournament for all the men:
Before we knew it, 4:00am on Saturday had rolled around and it was time for Daddy to hit the road home and drop us at the airport on his way. Look at those smiles on my angel even though we were both heartbroken to leave the coast. She’s a great traveler!
Look out AA passengers, this pilot’s a ROOKIE!
Can’t wait for Hilton Head 2015…it will be a law school graduation celebration to remember!
