Bicycle! Bicycle!

Jonathan and I have been so psyched now that Bridget's bike seat has joined our activity gear rotation. Have I mentioned how great it is to have a handy husband? He handily tossed this bike seat on with no instructions and no time at all. Not to mention the garage door that he just fixed while I was writing this post. What's next?!

That's another story...back to the bike. Now that its warming up out there, I'm reminded of how insanely hot it gets in Texas and how soon my lovely walks will no longer be lovely. Sure, B, Penny and I will still get out there as often as possible to visit the park, a nice breeze in our hair will be a welcome change here and there.

Biking is something Jonathan and I loved doing together during our college years together, and though it had easily been 2 years since I'd ridden a bike it was pretty much like they say...."it's just like riding a bike!" Nice. Here are some shots of the three of us prepping for the maiden voyage of B's bike seat, as well as some silly ones I attempted to shoot during the ride. Again, nice. I look forward to more and more in the months ahead! We've got to get ready for some beach bike rides once Hilton Head rolls around this summer :)

Everytime we'd stop to check the seat or lift her helmet (its needs some more foam padding on the inside...who'd have thought her big egg head wouldn't fit?!), she's whine and start signing "more". It was so sugary sweet!

B meets Dr. T again!

The third time has certainly been the charm for me lately. One hilarious example has been my journey to my annual doctor's visit. I scheduled well in advance to make it not only during Spring Break (Jonathan would be home), but also on a work day so I could just go straight from the office and then home. Perfect. Well, I got there 5 minutes late and realized I didn't have my new insurance card. Boo! The receptionist, as always, was very helpful in trying to get me in anyway but I decided to bail so a) I wouldn't have to pay full price and wait for reimbursement, and b) I could run home with time to meet Jonathan to go on the spur of the moment camping trip her planned. I was told a spot on Tuesday was available due to a cancellation, so I said okay! B would be with me, but I'd take it.

Take 2: Amanda was in town and volunteered to watch B so I could go to my appointment. Yay! I got there 10 minutes early (who am I?!) and sauntered up to the counter. Oops! Turns out my appointment was the NEXT Tuesday. Arg! Can't a girl catch a break?! Silver lining? I randomly saw a good friend from my teaching days (also stays home with her two adorable boys) and got to catch up on all things kiddos. So fun!

Take 3: We made it! It was a Tuesday and I didn't have anyone to help with B so she tagged along. While I don't suggest bringing kids along to such an appointment if you can help it, she did pretty well. And I'm glad she got to meet both Dr. T and my favorite nurse, Mary. Since Dr. T was sick on the day I delivered Bridget, she only got her meet her the next day (while wearing a surgical mask to keep germs away!). It was fun to introduce her to my precious doodle and let her see B in action. Thankfully, they were happy to entertain her during the appointment. They're so sweet!

Finding Some Peace of Mind

Well, I’ve been a little overwhelmed recently with life and as I’m sitting here messing around on the computer (reading about the government shutdown, watching people save money on Extreme Couponing – how can I do that?! , frantically cleaning my neglected home) I find myself needing a calming presence. Enter my precious doodle bug! Not much to say here, so I’ll do my best to leave it to the pics. Here are some wonderful memories my family made this St. Patty’s Day that have been waiting around to be shared…

I already feel better. Maybe hearing her sweet words to her toys as she sits in her crib could make a difference, too. Time to go snatch her up in my arms for a hug!

Welcome to the Big Top!

Last Saturday, Bridget and I met our dear friends Jill and Alexandra in Frisco to see the Kelly Miller Circus. It was a blast! Through the miracle of blogging and the coincidental circumstances that Jill works at the same MS as Jonathan (she used to work at school with me!), we thankfully manage to stay in touch…our families are both so busy that there’s precious little time to spend together!

Back to the fun! What a great day to see a circus!

My little noodle doodle was perfectly content to sit on my lap, especially since she’s often afraid of PA systems (she gets freaked out at our neighborhood taco restaurant when they call to-go orders over the PA! Poor girl!). The welcome scared her a little and kept her clinging tightly to Mommy, but as soon as all the “oohs” and “ahhs” and clapping began, she wanted to make sure she showed her appreciation as well. Such a good audience member!

It was so fun sitting with Jill and Alexandra! It’s always awesome to see all the things Alexandra can do, since she’s nearly exactly one year older than B. Isn’t it amazing to see how much they grow in one year?!

We didn’t have any idea how long the show would go, so when they announced a 20 minute intermission after an hour of performance, Jill and I took that perfect opportunity to sneak out and see a little bit of the outdoor activities before heading home:
