Adamos in Action!

(yes, horrible pic of me but its the only one with all 4 of us...I'm dealing with it!)

What a weekend of activity! Though I'm truly a "Fall girl" with my birthday in November and my favorite weather being cool and cloudy, I'm just loving this mid-60's days and I want them to stay for a while. Saturday, we participated in the MS Walk in Addison with the librarian from my school, Leia, and her adorable family. A few other teachers from work were there as well and we had a great time. Did I mention the free Subway sandwiches, too? And chips? Ah! It was a dream :).

(The Family Rogers! And I don't think I mentioned that Leia is an MS sufferer, so walking for her made it that much more special)

Not only did we get out for that 5K, we also walked in the mini-parade at First Presby in downtown Dallas for Palm Sunday. Jonathan plays the PS/Easter gig there every year and really enjoys it. The music minister there is awesome and very knowledgeable (something Jonathan appreciates a lot), and the congregation is so welcoming. We walked for an hour through the streets of downtown with everyone singing "When the Saints Go Marching In" and other standards. B and I had a fun time and plenty of people commmented on her cuteness (eating the palm only added to the interest, of course). Good times!

(notice Jonathan in the background playing trombone? teehee)

We did other stuff, but my brain is so maxed out. Gotta love mommy-brain! Oh yeah, J and I had a date night, thanks to my parents. Saw "Hot Tub Time Machine" (J's idea, duh) at Studio Movie Grill...great food and fun...bad movie...but I'll take what I can get!

We are the children of Eve

More pics to come, but here's a quick preview of my precious angel's baptism ceremony/party last weekend. We are so proud of her!

Spring Break!

Man, am I tired! As I've noticed recently, so are many others. Blogging has slowed down and I'm hoping its because people are taking more time playing with their babies and enjoying their families...like me! Spring Break always promises that rest and relaxation that has evaded me since Christmas break, but as usual, I overbook us and end up being just as tired as I am during a normal work week. At least we were full of fun times meeting with friends and seeing new things. Here's a recap of our week so far:

Saturday - Annual St. Patty's Party and the McCauley's in McKinney

Sunday - errand day (whee!)

Monday - Mommy's doctor's appointment, so Miss B stayed with the lovely Kelly ladies and I learned from the master how to clip coupons correctly, Daddy brings home his new car, frisbee golf with B/Penny/Daddy/Uncle Cory/Donald, dinner at Los Jalepenos...yum!

Tuesday - Day with Julie and Abigail! Lunch at On the Border, walked through the Frisco Mercantile (you're right, Jill...way too expensive!), hang time at the McCauley's house, movie night with Daddy

Wednesday - Lunch with the very special Lauren and Tenley at Chocolate Angel (love that place!), Allen Americans hockey game with Julie and Ryan and friends, green beer at Dodie's...babysitter!!!!

Thursday - cancelled hair appointment meant yummy breakfast from Daddy, grocery shopping, Bridget's 6 month appointment (excellent, but 4 shots means sad baby), att store where Daddy surprised Mommy with an iPhone! hangtime with Grandma and Grandpa, late night shopping for Mommy

Friday - rescheduled haircut, photo session with Miss Jessica at the Dallas Arboretum (more on that later when pics are available...what a story!), evening grill/picnic at Lewisville Lake with my precious little family, Daddy's night with the guys = chill/blog time for Mommy!

Well, its here...1/2 way to one year :(

I can't believe my precious angel is already 6 months old! Here are a few of the delightful things we experience every day with her (and darn it, she just woke up from her nap and saw me...cardinal sin!):

Has two teeth (bottom in the middle)! tear...
Smiles pretty much on demand (or more!)
Sitting up, though she often leans forward pretty far due to her humongous head
Says "da da" indescriminately, among other nonsense words (no "ma ma" yet)
Eats babyfood REALLY WELL
Loves her bouncer and is getting even more interested in the bouncing function of her exersaucer
Will play in her playroom for an hour 'cause it allows her to look out the front windows
Her favorite thing in the world? Penny the dog, of course. Smiles and laughs all the time with her. I wonder what they're saying to each other that's so funny...
Pretty much on a breakfast/lunch/dinner eating schedule
Sleeps at least 11 hours each night (what's new) and serves as a great 6:30am alarm clock
Why does she need to crawl when she can roll herself all over the house?
Is an outdoorsy gal just like her mom and dad. She makes the sweetest, peaceful face when the breeze is blowing through her hair
Loves kisses...from anyone
Puts on a great show for strangers with her smiles and giggles
Doesn't sleep through restaurant visits anymore, which will (thankfully) cut down on our social budget...phew!
Has had her first non-family babysitter (besides Carmen)

More to come after her 6 month appointment tomorrow with Dr. B...this mommy just wants her to slow down!!!

Beautiful new hat!

Thanks, again, to Jill for hooking me up with his adorable, hand-knit hat for Bridgey bear. Its a little big now, which is great because I'm pretty sure it will fit nicely by this next winter. Yay!

Lovin' that bouncer!

OMG...I've done something crafty

Yay me! I created something! Teehee...if I put my mind to it, I am capable of creating pretty things, but I've always know that craftiness is not my greatest attribute. I think I've felt this way because my little sister is SO darn creative that its hard to compete, so I just make her do my stuff for me! :) One thing I've discovered that I love to do and can actually do myself is make diaper cakes. Whee! Super fun, super easy, and a great way to make a baby shower special. Here's my latest concoction for the sweet girl at my school who just happens to be the person that steered me in the direction of Bridget's precious Miss Carmen.

My favorite part of my fun present....

As you can see, Bridget was so grateful for the gift my Aunt Janine sent to her for her 6 month birthday on Sunday. What was her favorite part, you ask? The wrapping paper, of course! She IS a baby!

Spring Has Sprung

I am so happy that we can start getting out our cute Spring wear for Miss Bridget now that the weather is starting to turn. Of course, I know better than to pack away our winter garb...I'm sure we still have chilly weather in our near future, knowing Texas...but at least we had a 75 degree day already! Here are a few shots of my girl in her first Spring hat. Ahhhh!

Have I mentioned how much Bridget (and Mommy and Daddy!) loves her daily caretaker? Babysitter is certainly an easier name but it just doesn't seem to describe all the wonderful things Carmen offers our sweet girl. We also love Maureen, who's in this pic with Bridget (the kiddos got to go outside during the first nice weather day of the year last week) and is Carmen's assistant. They are both so delightful and helpful for this novice mommy. Carmen certainly has experience...she has 5 kiddos of her own!

I also wanted to remind everyone of Bridget's first day at Miss Carmen's. It went swimmingly, of course!

Un limon, por favor?

We knew she'd love Mexican food. Both of us were positive she would fall asleep on the VERY short drive to Los Jalapenos so we could enjoy a fun dinner (it had been a long time!). We were wrong, but she was excellent at the restaurant. We took her out of the seat for the last 10 minutes or so (don't tell anyone about the Christmas sleeper she was wearing...there's only so many that are long enough!) and she went "grabby grabbersons" all over that table! Here's a clip of our daily enjoyment. It's a riot!

Fun Fair Festivities!

Bridget and I had a wonderful time seeing our sweet Fair Females, Jill and Alexandra earlier this week. Jill is kind enough to be the middleman in my ordering of a beautiful, homemade knit hat from a woman that comes to her school. Alexandra had one on in her 18 month picture recently and I feel in love. Can't wait to have it in my hot, little hands!

Thankfully, me delivering the $$ for the hat meant that I got to visit J and A and hang out for a bit. Though Bridget and Jill had met before a few times, they just really hit it off this time! B was so content in Jill's arms and really seemed totally at peace. It was a sweet sight to see. And after Alexandra warmed up to us, she got a real kick out of Baby B. She was just giggling and smiling and putting on a real show. What a great hostess! She is learning so much from her awesome Mommy :).

Can't wait for our next hang!

Penny + Bridget = L.O.V.E.

Don't you just love the giggles in this video? I get to hear this everyday when we come home from school and let Penny out of her kennel. Bridget LOVES watching Penny run around. Music to my ears :).

I just don't know how people can do it...give away a pet. Yes, I totally understand why it must be done and if after exhausting EVERY possible scenario you still meet failure I guess its justified but I just can't imagine it! Even after Bridget arrived and we knew that there was the possibility that Penny could react negatively, it all ended up being a piece of cake!

Like Jill and I were just discussing the other day, I firmly believe that, like babies, pets are extremely receptive to "energies" of the people around them. If you put off nervous energy, you will encounter a nervous dog (or baby). If you are feeling worried and anxious, your dog (or baby) will feel nervous and anxious. Express a calm, assertive, confident vibe? You will meet relaxation and comfort from your special friend. Cesar Milan is right!

Well, all that said...Bridget has always shown interest in all our furry friends but recently she has been enamored with Penny. She reaches out to the dog more than she reaches out to me! Jealous? Nah. Its so darn cute! Thankfully, Penny's affection for Bridget is obviously growing now that the Queen B is more interesting. Its such a sweet and special unspoken connection that they have and I can't wait to see it grow as the days pass. We love our Pen Pen!

Meeting each other for the first time...Bridget is a little baby burrito!

Playtime!

Someone's in the kitchen with Mommy!

Wahoo! I finally got around to making my first batch of baby food. All it took was Jonathan being gone for the night so I could focus on stuff I wanted to do :). Per Carmen and Maureen's suggestions (for those who don't know, those are the coolest ladies ever...and happen to be Bridget's sitters), I tried butternut squash first. So easy! I actually microwaved it instead of baking and it worked great. Phew! Once that was done, I moved right on to the 2 lbs of carrots I already had in the fridge. Also so easy! Only annoying part was peeling all those suckers, but the rest was easy. Steamed 'em them whipped them up in the processor. No reason why I can't do this all the time!
