Penny for your thoughts??

Well, the new queen of the Adamo realm now has a name! We bestowed the name, Penny, upon her highness and I think it properly captures her precocious nature while still keeping the hope of sweetness on the horizon. I'll add more videos/pictures soon (and often), but until then...check her out on YouTube! If you search "the adamos puppy" you'll find a few clips. Here's an example:

Nameless furry friend in action!

Score 1 for Jonathan!

When I came home from school today and walked into the kitchen, a clumsy pitter patter greeted me and as I turned around, my leg was lovingly attacked by our new furry friend! All the credit goes to Jonathan for surprising me with our new (as yet unnamed) angel and for deciding that now was as good a time as any to add to the Adamo clan. Love him!!

Total destruction!

The Original Dining Room Chair: These chairs came as part of a set from Jonathan's parents once they purchased a new suite. We adore our hutch and table, but the chairs are too much of a reflection of the age of the set...basically, the bain of my existence for 4 years now...but...

My nesting instincts come in handy! I finally recruited Jonathan to join in the demo (it wasn't quite as easy as I'd hoped at first), the innards of the chair disappeared. Yipee! Stay tuned (probably til this summer) for pics of the final product. I can't wait!!!

Spring at the Adamo's place!

Dining Room table (ignore the chairs...see previous blog!):

More dining, up close:

Dining...again!:

The lovely mantel setting in the formal living room:

Dallas fun...continued!

Jonathan and I visited the Dallas Farmers Market on Sunday morning for some healthy eats and for an opportunity to enjoy the great weekend weather. As usual, the barns did not disappoint! It's always a fun trip and I can't wait to go back again soon...yay for the honey sticks at $0.25 a pop!

Dallas offers us so much!

Amanda, her roommate Kathy, and I all visited the Dallas Zoo over the weekend and it was such a perfect day! The weather was just right and most of the animals were out and about giving us all a good show. I was particularly interested in seeing the Albino Alligators (new to the DZ) in their opening weekend, and they did not disappoint. Enjoy!

Our team at the end of our trip...good times!

Amanda and I at the tortoise exhibit

I was creeped out by them, but very happy to see it all!

Can you believe they are susceptible to sunburns? Just like Amanda!

Creepy alligator pic!!! He looked more like something that belongs at Marie Tussaud's or something...

More belly pics

They say pregnant ladies all get fat arms. What happens to those of us who already had them in the first place? It's starting to look scary! :) (scroll down to an early post of more belly pics)

Weekend of fun!

Our view from the cheap seats (our first of three seat changes...we never really sat where our tickets said)!

The dad behind us kept bagging on The Wave to his kids saying it was rude and distracting...and then he said a swear word in front of them...Cory is just trying to make an important stand here...The Wave lives on!

The Happy Couple (before I was made to walk up three flights of stairs by the rude ladies of the elevator...not cool!)

Allow me to get you up to speed...

These are pretty self-explanitory:

I'm not thrilled about sharing this pic, seeing as how I look atrocious...

Much cuter picture :)

It's still growing!

While I was thrilled just to find out about our little girl, Jonathan was a little "surprised" to say the least. I believe his exact remarks later were, "I guess I just didn't realize how much I wanted it to be a boy"...ah, we can laugh about it now, can't we!

Fun Zelda Memories!

No use in feeling sad for too long. Please enjoy the fun memories "the furry one" had while she graced us with her presence. Man, it surely was The Legend of Zelda!

Her backpack is so adorable! It will live on well past her short time...

Ah...an expert chewer even at an early age...

My first baby!

Papa and Zelda sharing some quality hiking time

Just like her daddy...she loves a good REI tent...even in doggie sizes!

Beware of campsite attack dog!

Sad news :(

Here's an email that I sent
out the day after we lost our sweet puppy, Zelda, to kidney disease:

Good morning, friends.

The Adamos had a sad day yesterday when we had to say goodbye to our precious puppy, Zelda. After a life-long battle (one we were made aware of only 5 short weeks ago) with kidney disease, she quietly let us know that she was ready for us to end her suffering. We would have celebrated her 1st birthday next week. Tuesday afternoon, the vibrant, jumping, eating, squealing, precocious little friend we’d grown to love was noticeably absent and in her place was an obviously sick puppy.

Many of you know that 5 weeks ago she shocked us by needing a 3 day trip to the doggie emergency center upon which we learned of her terminal situation. We were told that her time was limited but we didn’t know for how long. Luckily, Jonathan and I learned to live each day with Zelda to the fullest and were able to go on many walks, a family camping trip, and quite a few visits to our two favorite dog parks. Oh, and we indulged her in twice-daily bowls of wet food…every dogs’ favorite! It was a good time that we had together and when she went downhill again, she went down terribly fast. I think this actually helped us get over the very difficult situation so we didn’t have to see her in pain for long.

Thank you for your well-wishes and thoughts as well as all the pets you may have given to our special furry baby. She will be missed, but she will not be forgotten. We’re already starting to feel happier and remembering fun times instead of spending time being sad.

Certainly some sad times at our place, but as you can see, we've had great news in the days since!

Here we are at Caprock Canyon State Park over the Thanksgiving holiday week. She had such a great time!

Jonathan is getting ready to take Zelda on a walk with her Outward Dog backpack. This was one of her last walks :(.

Basics of Blogging

Welcome to our first family blog! After some gentle urging from friendly bloggers I know (you know who you are!), I've finally decided to just dive into the deep end and get started. These days we have so much to share with our friends and family that sometimes its just easier to put it all down in one place where we can also include fun pictures for your visual enjoyment! Please comment freely and often and let us know how things are in your neck of the woods...
